The importance of training when you want it? Is it really important?

ESL Abroad....opportunity to start anew

But it's not as easy to just pack up and move off to a new job or a new locale as it might have been in previous times. It takes money to move and it takes knowledge and/or connections to find work when you get somewhere new. That's why most people just don't do anything but stay where they are, hoping things'll change even though they usually don't.

Unless, that is, you've got a college degree (any kind), you're between the ages of 21-60, you've got no criminal charges in your background, and you're reasonably healthy. If you meet those qualifications, then you're a prime candidate to teach conversational English to the huge numbers of students, businesspeople and entrepreneurs in foreign countries who recognize that English is the de facto international language.

In the majority of cases, these jobs pay well above the local play scale, and in many cases transporation from your home country is provided, someplace to live in your new country of work is provided, you'll be able to save some (or a lot) of money and you'll have a chance to travel extensively and learn new languages and culture.

Most people who teach ESL abroad do so only for a few years but there are a substantial number of people who get attached to the easy lifestyle and stay abroad, sometimes in one country and sometimes in a series of countries, for several years. It definately can get addictive and it is possible, once you learn your way around the market, to get into some fairly high paying positions.

If you think teaching English As A Second Language(ESL) might be something you'd like to try, the first place to start is the internet. Depending on the country, you might find employment through intermediates (i.e. recruiters and agencies) or directly with employers (i.e. the schools themselves). There are also websites, blogs and forums on the internet where you can get lots of information (although sometimes maybe a bit opinionated!).

From there on it's just like any other job. Do your due diligence, be careful, and take your best offer based on what you're looking for.

9. Veretekkies building superhighways through the internet matrix
